Club News - March  2004

Report on November 16th, 2003 Trail Workday.

GCMBC cleared a number of trails on our Sunday, Nov. 16th trail workday.

We had a lot of ground to cover so we broke up in two person teams and fanned out.

Steve White and friends cleared Triple Creek of brush prior to the 3:00 o’clock start, and Scott Snape and Jeff finished off about 25 trees down across the trail.

Chris Foreman and Laura cleared sections of Rocky Logging Road and Technical.

Tim Rowell and Gary Poirier cleared sections of Pig-Horse trail at the top of Pot Belly Pig Logging Road.

Chuck Rice and Amy Rowell cleared out the powerline section of Hunting Arrow where the utility lines are being cleared, and the pine-tree downhill section.

Carmen Talley and Bradley Robinson cleared sections of Right Loop, Left Loop, and Big Hole trail of brush and downed trees.

20 hours of trail time were volunteered.

Thanks to everyone for coming out.

Club Christmas Party

The GCMBC Christmas Party was held on December 6th, 2003 at Exchange Street Pub and Grill in Pendleton. The Trail Workday raffle was also held, with Chris Foreman taking home the Grand Prize of a $50 gift certificate to Sunshine Bicycle Company and $50 to Calhoun Corners. Chris immediately put the Calhoun Corners gift certificate up for re-raffle, and Ian Davidson went home with it. We think Ian has a couple of hundred bucks in gift certificates now. Carmen Talley took the 2nd prize of $25 to Sunshine Bikes, and $25 to Calhoun Corners. Sunshine Bikes also donated 5 pairs of socks that were given away to the unfortunate losers of the raffle. A good time was had by all.

Hunting Arrow Re-Opened!

We again did battle with Mother Nature to reclaim the last couple of miles of Hunting Arrow trail. This is the 3rd or 4th time we have cleared the area in a year. Thanks to Chuck Rice, Scott Snape, and Tim and Amy Rowell for helping out with the work.

Upcoming Events/Calendar

The Annual GCMBC Member meeting will be held February 25th at 6:30PM, at the Central Library. Next year’s schedule of events will be set and club officers elected, so please come by if you can.
